25 Week Progress Report
Our hospital tour went well last week... We got to see where Bennett is going to be born, the nursery, etc. It makes it "REAL" now, and we are truly getting excited to meet our boy! I am still feeling great and am constantly told by my fabulous, ever-patient husband that I am not as "crazy" as his "Boys' Guide to Pregnancy" book told him I would be! ;-)
We had an appointment on Monday and, even though most of the appointments now are in-and-out, I really enjoy my monthly progress report! :-) Bennett's heart rate has slowed to 128 (it gets slower and slower as the baby nears birth) and I've gained 15 lbs! Also, they confirmed that I am having Braxton Hicks contractions. Baby Center says "Braxton Hicks contractions are sporadic uterine contractions that start about 6 weeks into your pregnancy, although you won't be able to feel them that early. You probably won't start to notice them until sometime after mid-pregnancy, if you notice them at all (some women don't)." My abdomen is measuring 26cm, which, they said was good (it's Greek to me!). :-) Additionally, we talked to our doctor about my mom's recent Whooping Cough concern and whether or not it's a good idea to get vaccinated. The doctor said yes, that those around me that will have a lot of contact with baby should get vaccinated if they're not up-to-date (I can't until after Bennett is born). Whooping Cough is not that common, but apparently it IS going around. And, we've decided we are going to donate Bennett's cord blood. They are able to do some amazing things with it (it can treat several diseases), and since it would just be thrown out anyway, why not?!
All in all, things are really wonderful. I went through a period where I didn't want to cook at all because the thought of smelling, let alone TOUCHING meat or fish was very unappealing, to say the least... I've finally gotten past that barrier and am cooking like a wild woman again! Also, I think I am just about to the point where I am going to look for some maternity clothes! Lucky for me, they have made things so much cuter than they were in the past... A lot of times, you can get away with the extra long shirts they make now (which I love anyway with my super long torso!), but pants may be another topic! ;-) Bennett is moving ALL the time and Quinn is finally beginning to be able to feel him, which is the best!
